A perfect retreat for families of all generations, this spacious 7 bedroom, 6.5 bath one story home sits on a quiet cul de sac in the heart of Alta La Jolla. Located midway between the chic village of La Jolla and the lively Pacific Beach, Slice of Paradise is just minutes from shops and fine dining in either direction and only a short drive to freeway access and downtown San Diego. Previously known in our inventory as "Art Lover's Paradise," this home has been one of our most popular with luxury travelers for over five years. Now under new ownership, the home has been completely remodeled in a fresh, clean, modern coastal décor that everyone will love.

The best feature of this home is the expansive indoor/outdoor flow from the back of the house to the beautifully landscaped outdoor living spaces with views over the ocean, Mission Bay, Sea World, Downtown and Point Loma. Moving seamlessly from the living rooms through glass doors opening entire walls to the spacious outdoor sofas and lounge chairs, you can comfortably rest while your chefs get cooking in the fully equipped outdoor kitchen. Bar seating creates unity with the chefs while others indulge in the oversized hot tub or swim in the huge solar heated swimming pool. Meanwhile, some can take their cocktails to the raised deck and sit comfortably around the fire pit, enjoying the views over San Diego and the Pacific Ocean.

The layout of the home creates a notion of everyone in their own space yet still closely connected. From the entry, you encounter three open living areas including formal dining room with seating for 12, two open family rooms with sofas, sectionals and a flat screen TV and best of all, three sets of the glass walls leading out to the back yard entertainment area and ocean views. The first bedroom off the entry has a King size bed, writing desk, flat screen TV, two closets and a seating area. The bathroom, with double vanities and a large custom shower, is located just steps across the hall. The next area is the formal living room with large sofa sectionals for everyone to gather, a large flat screen TV, glass fireplace and access to the outdoor patio sofas dining table and kitchen. Next, to the right of the living room pool side is the light and bright Master Bedroom with two walls of glass doors opening to the back yard. An impressive King size bed with night stands, modern enclosed glass fireplace, writing desk, and comfortable seating area all provide a perfect escape from the rest of the house while still keeping a eye on the back yard activities. The Master Bathroom is impressive with a jetted corner tub, large custom shower, double vanities and plenty of closet space. Next down the hall is Bedroom #3, a Queen size bed with a relaxing seating area and hammock chair, ensuite bathroom sporting a shower/tub combination and two walls of closet and cabinets. This bedroom is accessed both from the kitchen and the bedroom hallway. Next down the bedroom hallway is Bedroom #4, a kids room with two Twin beds, access to the garden, and a shared bathroom with double vanities and a shower. The bathroom is shared with Bedroom # 5, a large room with a King size bed, writing desk and large closet wall. Its large windows look out to the garden. Bedroom # 6 is privately located in its own wing on the other side of the kitchen past the laundry room hallway and just off the garage entry. It has a Queen size bed, closet wall, seating area, writing desk, TV and an ensuite bathroom with a shower.

The kitchen is a central gathering place of the house with a large island, tons of counter space and cabinets filled with everything a group needs for entertaining and cooking. It has a double gas oven, microwave/speed cooking oven, an induction stove top (touch controlled and requires special cookware as the burners will hot heat if it does not sense a pan), dishwasher and deep kitchen sink. The coffee maker is a duo 12 cup carafe / Keurig single cup. There is a blender, food processor, hand mixer, Insta Pot pressure cooker, bakeware, glass baking pans, glass food storage containers, plenty of induction ready pots and pans, serving platters, salad spinner, salad bowl, mixing bowls, measuring spoons and cups, cooking utensils, silverware, dinnerware sets, and anything else you may need in a chef's kitchen.

Finally, the quaint fully equipped Casita is accessed by its own private entry off the driveway or in the back past the pool. Completely self sufficient, it is the perfect place to stay away from the activities in the house. A Queen size bedroom and bathroom with double vanities and a shower, it also has its own full kitchen, dining table, living room, TV, laundry appliances, and patio seating area with a glass door that opens the living room wall to the back yard.

Parking is abundant with a gated entry that parks 4, garage for at least 2, and driveway space for 3-4 vehicles. Beach chairs, umbrellas and a cooler are provided.

This home is located in a quiet neighborhood and is only suitable for quiet groups. Our rental agreement includes a no tolerance policy regarding excessive noise, occupancy, and/or parties. All our homes are equipped with noise monitors. There will be no refunds for any guests required to leave due to noise or disturbances - evictions are strictly enforced if guests do not follow these policies.

Beautiful Location

Its a beautiful location and home that is perfect for family gatherings. Plenty to do whether you are older or younger. The pool is sparkling and warm and the view is delightful. The home is very unique and if you love art you are in for a treat. Host was awesome.

Great View!

This is a great home with lots of space. You could easily have several couples here and not be bumping into each other. The pool and hot tub are very large and provided hours worth of fun/exercise each day. There's a great view from the back yard. The house also was nice and clean upon arrival. I would add that the listing says the house is good for 2 and under & 2-12. There is a lot of art (pottery, sculpture, vases, etc) that we had to move up high so our 1 year old couldn't get to it. I would not recommend this house for small children.

Great family reunion

My family traveled from far and wide to San Diego to celebrate the lives of two beloved grandparents and to scatter their ashes at sea on the Californian, a Tall Sailing Ship. We stayed at a Slice of Paradise which easily accommodated me, my four children and their spouses, and 5 grandchildren. We also welcomed the other half of our family, which was scattered in several places around San Diego, to join us for lunch after the morning sailing trip. The property was ideal for this type of event with a large outdoor cooking and serving area beside the heated pool and indoor spaces that opened up to the pool area with large accordion-like glass doors. It was a beautiful setting that overlooked the Pacific and brought together our family in a very special and memorable way. Thank you for having us.

Amazing oasis on top of Mt. Soledad

We had five families with kids stay at this place and it was beyond amazing. We used the bbq everyday, sat outside and enjoyed the sunset, soaked in the hot tub all hours of the day, cooked everything/anything in the kitchen, and had luxurious showers (rain shower with a shower wand also). This house has everything that you can think of and more! The casita was lovely too, and more secluded for some peace and quiet. The driveway is HUGE and can park multiple cars. We were so incredibly lucky to stay here and I hope to rent this place again in the future!!! This is incredibly close to delicious Thai (Turmeric Thai) and a bakery called French Gourmet!

The best family trip ever.

Thirteen of us found luxury, fun and relaxation at this, most beautiful, home in La Jolla. Ocean views as you wander thru the spacious and comfortable setting. The pool and hot tub next to the complete outdoor kitchen anchored our stay. Monarch was a respectful and responsive host.

My extended family stayed for a week in July. The house was perfect for us. Pool, nice view, spacious, big eat in kitchen, outdoor kitchen. The management was just a text away. Everything was easy and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again if we choose the San Diego area again.
